The Belgian goalkeeper has had to play second fiddle to Brazil international Alisson Becker since his arrival at the Merseyside outfit from AS Roma last summer.
The 31-year-old had to watch on from the sidelines for most of last season as Liverpool FC finished second in the Premier League and won the Champions League trophy.
Indeed, Mignolet was limited to just two appearances in the cup competitions for Liverpool FC last season as Klopp chose Alisson as his number one between the posts.
His lack of playing time last season has inevitably prompted speculation that Mignolet could be on his way out of Anfield this summer.
However, Klopp has now insisted that he is hoping that the Belgium international ends up staying at the Merseyside outfit this summer.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Liverpool FC’s website, Klopp said: “Yeah, how I’ve heard,” the boss replied, when asked if the ‘keeper will stay at Anfield.
“I’ve had a lot of conversations with him in the last couple of years and months. Before we left we had a talk and I would say yes [he will stay].”
He added: I think it’s because at a club like Liverpool you need two No.1s at least and we have that, that’s cool, with Ali and Simon.
“That’s a very good situation for the club but a situation I think you should have and that’s why everything is fine from my point of view.”
Liverpool FC finished just a single point behind Manchester City last season and they will be eager to challenge for the Premier League title again next term.
The Reds brought in Klopp as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October 2015 and have not looked back.
