Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says 21-year-old is the ‘future’ of Man United
Ole Gunner Solskjaer says that Axel Tuanzebe is the future of Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that Axel Tuanzebe is the “future” of Manchester United.
The centre-half produced an impressive performance for the Red Devils in their 1-0 pre-season win over Inter Milan on Saturday as Solskjaer’s men continued their preparations for the new campaign.
Manchester United have been linked with a number of defensive signings this summer, with Harry Maguire thought to be the top target for the Red Devils.
But it would seem that Solskjaer is clearly upbeat about the future of Tuanzebe, 21, judging by his comments in the wake of Saturday’s victory over the Italian side.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Solskjaer said: “He has got a future at Man United, yes, of course he has.
“Today was the best for him, playing against different opposition.
”Against Leeds, we knew he could play at that level and that is why he didn’t play against Leeds. Now, he has showed today that he is very capable at this level.
“Axel is going to be the future of this club.”
Tuanzebe spent last season on loan to Aston Villa and he has now returned to Old Trafford to fight for a place in the first team at the club.
He will be hoping to hold down a spot in the first team this season as he bids to keep impressing Solskjaer.
Manchester United are targeting a return into the top four for next season after they finished in sixth place and without a trophy under Solskjaer last term.
The Red Devils have so far brought in Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer.
