The Daily Mirror is reporting that the 28-year-old is ready to agree a £350,000 a week deal to keep him at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future.
The deal is set to make De Gea the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world and it represents a significant pay-rise on his current contract, which is said to be worth around £200,000 a week.
According to the same story, De Gea wanted parity with Alexis Sanchez on around £500,000 a week, but he will now earn around £350,000 per week.
The same story says that there have been fresh talks between Manchester United and his agent Jorge Mendes and the goalkeeper is now close to penning a new contract.
Manchester United will be aiming to challenge for a top-four finish next season after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
The Red Devils have jetted off to Australia to begin their pre-season tour as they look to try and get themselves in the best possible shape for next term.
