Harry Maguire wants to join Manchester United and become the club’s captain in the future, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the 26-year-old defender believes that he has what to takes to succeed at Old Trafford and he wants to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Steve Bruce and Rio Ferdinand at the club.

The same story says that Maguire is still “pushing” for a move away from Leicester City this summer – but the Foxes are holding out for a transfer fee of £85m.

According to the article, Maguire believes that he has the temperament to be able to captain one of Europe’s top sides.

It is claimed in the same story that the England defender is still a target for Manchester City as the speculation about his future drags on.

The article says that Maguire is well aware that he would not land the captain’s armband immediately if he joined Manchester United this summer.

But instead, he feels that he possesses the attributes needed to lead the club in the future if he does seal a move to Old Trafford.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get a deal over the line for Maguire before the transfer window closes next month.
