Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the attacking midfielder remains as a transfer priority for the Red Devils as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his squad.
The same story says that Manchester United are closing in on a £90m deal to land the Serbia international, but the move is being held up due to Lazio and the Red Devils being unable to agree on the structuring of certain payments.
According to the article, the Red Devils have agreed to pay £67.5m up front and £9m to his representatives – but that leaves a remaining £13.5m, which is yet to be structured.
Despite that, the same story says that a deal is “expected” to be concluded as Manchester United search for their third signing of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this summer after the Red Devils allowed Ander Herrera to leave and join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
The Red Devils will kick off their Premier League campaign with a home clash against Chelsea FC on 11 August.
