The 26-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford has been a constant source of speculation this summer after he admitted in an interview that he would be open to a move away from the club.
Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in signing Pogba this summer but it remains to be seen whether the Spanish club will end up signing the France international before the close of the transfer window.
Pogba is currently with the rest of his Manchester United team-mates in Australia for the club’s pre-season tour as the Red Devils gear up for the new campaign.
And Solskjaer has now issued his firm backing for the World Cup winner as he readies his troops for the forthcoming season.
Speaking in an interview quoted by BBC Sport, Solskjaer said: “Paul is a fantastic player and a fantastic human being. He has always been a great professional.
“When I was at Molde, I said, ‘if he’s in your squad, you’d build a team around him’. I would say the same now.
“Manchester United fans know their football. We know Paul has been criticised by a few but he’s loved by loads more.
“You know, it’s the best feeling you can have to be at this club when we’re successful. The ones that might want to leave now haven’t been here when it’s been successful.
“Hopefully they want to be part of that. I want to be part of it.”
Manchester United fans will be hoping that Pogba can help the Red Devils break back into the top four next season after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
Pogba scored 13 goals and made nine assists in 35 Premier League games for the Red Devils last term.
