Manchester United are prepared to offer Harry Maguire a contract worth around £250,000 a week, according to a report in England.

The Daily Star is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to make Maguire one of the best-paid players at Old Trafford.

The same article states that only Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba would be on a bigger salary than Maguire should the Leicester defender move to the club.

According to the same story, Maguire would be set to triple his current wages at Leicester after the centre-half moved to the King Power Stadium in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The report goes on to add that Man United number two Mike Phelan could play a key role in the success of the transfer given he previously managed Maguire.

Manchester United have already signed two players in the current transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to revamp the Red Devils squad.

The 20-time English champions brought in Wales international Daniel James in a £15m deal from Championship side Swansea City last month.

The Red Devils have also recruited Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal earlier in July.

Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
