Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is eager to sign more “exciting” players who fit the club’s “long-term vision” this summer, according to a report in England.

The Daily Telegraph has lifted the lid on an internal email sent by Woodward just before Manchester United completed the £50m signing of Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka on Saturday afternoon.

The same article describes how Woodward attempted to reassure members of the club that Manchester United were working hard but “calmly” to implement their summer transfer plans.

According to the same story, Woodward’s email implied that the club’s spending wouldn’t finish with the arrival of Wan-Bissaka and Swansea midfielder Daniel James.

The Daily Telegraph go on to include a large chunk of Woodward’s email:

“Despite the inflated nature of the transfer market and constant speculation and stories, which can be misleading, the recruitment team – in conjunction with the manager (Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) – are working calmly behind the scenes to bring in other exciting players that fit their long-term vision for the club.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is attempting to revive Manchester United’s fortunes this summer following their fifth-placed finish in the Premier League last term.

The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2012-13 season, when Sir Alex Ferguson led Manchester United to top flight glory in his final season in charge.

Manchester United have finished the last two seasons without a trophy despite significant investment in the squad following the arrivals of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

The 20-time English champions have been linked with a host of different players in the summer transfer window so far.
