Sky Sports News reporter: Man United’s bid for Harry Maguire ‘alive’
Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol says Man United are still working on a deal for Harry Maguire
Manchester United’s bid for Harry Maguire is “very much alive”, according to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol.
The Red Devils have been linked with a swoop to sign the England international throughout the summer transfer window so far.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is thought to be eager to sign British talent ahead of the new Premier League season – and Maguire fits the bill.
Manchester United are rumoured to be facing competition from Premier League champions Manchester City in the race to sign Maguire.
Sky Sports News reporter Solhekol has now confirmed that Manchester United are still working on a potential deal for the England international.
Solhekol wrote on Twitter: “Manchester United’s attempt to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City ‘very much alive’ says source close to negotiations.”
Manchester United are in the market to sign a centre-half after they conceded more goals than Liverpool FC and Manchester City combined last season.
The Old Trafford outfit shipped 54 goals in 38 games in the Premier League to raise questions about their defence under Solskjaer.
The Red Devils started their summer spending with the £15m addition of Welsh midfielder Daniel James from Championship side Swansea City.
Manchester United have also snapped up England Under-21 international Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal from Premier League rivals Crystal Palace.
Solskjaer was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s replacement in December before the Norwegian was handed the reins on a full-time basis in March.
