Man United fail with bid to sign Everton midfielder – report
Manchester United fail with a last-ditch attempt to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to a report
Manchester United made a late bid that was rejected to sign Paris Saint-Germain-bound Idrissa Gueye from Everton, according to a report in France.
French media outlet L’Equipe, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United were looking to complete a sensational swoop to sign the Senegal international.
The same article states that the Ligue 1 champions are thought to have secured a deal for the Everton star and Gueye will officially become a PSG player next week.
According to the same story, Gueye’s proposed move to PSG was temporarily held up because Manchester United made a desperate attempt to hijack the deal.
Although the Everton star did ask for more time to think about Manchester United’s offer, the 29-year-old decided to move to PSG rather than Old Trafford.
Manchester United have been busy in the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to revamp his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Red Devils signed promising Wales international Daniel James in an £18m deal from Championship side Swansea City to bolster their midfield options.
Manchester United spent £50m on Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka to offer more depth at right-back.
Solskjaer’s side will start the new Premier League season with a clash against Chelsea FC at Old Trafford on 11 August.
