According to the same story, Arsenal, Everton and Liverpool FC are all interested in the Ivorian star but Manchester United are further along the negotiation process.
The Times report goes on to add that Liverpool FC haven’t spoken to Lille about Pepe but the Reds have sounded out the winger’s representatives.
The report goes on to add that Manchester United could raise the funds to sign Pepe if the 20-time English champions sell Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan.
Manchester United have signed Wales international Daniel James in a £18m deal from Championship outfit Swansea City last month.
The Red Devils have also recruited Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka in a £50m deal earlier this month.
Manchester United finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season following a disappointing campaign under Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils will start the 2019-20 season with a clash against Chelsea FC on 11 August.
