Robin van Persie singled out Dani Ceballos as the best player on the pitch in Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The on-loan Real Madrid playmaker made his home debut for the visit of Sean Dyche’s side at The Emirates at Saturday lunchtime after the Gunners recruited Ceballos for the rest of the 2019-20 season.

Ceballos has been drafted into the Arsenal team to help Unai Emery’s side cope with Aaron Ramsey’s void after the Welsh midfielder moved to Serie A champions Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The summer signing finished with 90 per cent pass completion, as well as completing four successful dribbles and winning three tackles.

Ceballos played a key role in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s winner after the Real Madrid star won the ball and teed up the Gabon international to make it 2-1.

Former Arsenal captain Van Persie was quick to lavish praise on Ceballos for his starring performance in the Gunners’ second successive victory of the 2019-20 season.

“Ceballos was by far the best player on the pitch,” Van Persie told BT Sport.

“He was making the game. He was creating. He wanted the ball constantly. He was a joy to watch.”

Arsenal have beaten Newcastle United and Burnley in their opening two Premier League games to lay down an early marker in the top-four race.

The Gunners haven’t finished in the Champions League qualification spots in the last three seasons.
