The Spanish midfielder was named in the Arsenal starting XI for the first time since he arrived at the north London side on a season-long loan from Real Madrid.
Ceballos played a big hand in Arsenal’s winner after Burnley striker Ashley Barnes cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette’s opening goal at the Emirates Stadium.
The summer signing managed to win the ball in the middle of the park before Ceballos teed up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score the winning goal with a brilliant strike from outside the area.
Ceballos finished in the Premier League clash with a 90 per cent pass completion rate, four successful dribbles and three completed tackles in a versatile display.
Asked during his media conference what Ceballos adds to the Arsenal midfield, Emery said:
“With him, it’s for us to use his qualities in the best position in our team with our ideas.
“I spoke with him – before coming here – to play like an eight and a 10. He started like a 10, but a lot of times he was changing with Willock into the eight position, where he can feel better on the pitch.”
Ceballos was named in the Arsenal XI alongside fellow new David Luiz, while Nicolas Pepe came off the bench in the second half.
Asked to rate the performances of Ceballos, Luiz and Pepe, Emery added:
“What we wanted to create was a big atmosphere with our supporters together. With some new players, they made an impact in the first match here. We created this atmosphere, also with some other players, like Willock, who played very well.”
Arsenal will make the trip to Liverpool FC in their next Premier League fixture at Anfield on Saturday 24 August.
The Gunners have finished outside the top four in the last three seasons.
