Piers Morgan took to social media to insist that he could not question the effort of the Arsenal side after their 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Gunners slumped to their first league defeat of the campaign away from home, with Joel Matip opening the scoring before a double from Mohamed Salah in the second half.

Substitute Lucas Torreira pulled a goal back for the Gunners late on but it was not enough to inspire a comeback as Unai Emery’s men lost 3-1 on Merseyside.

Arsenal produced some decent spells at Anfield but were eventually undone by some impressive attacking from Liverpool FC.

And celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan says that he was satisfied with the effort put in by the Gunners players.

Morgan wrote on Twitter after the game: “Beaten by a far better team, as expected. Can’t question the effort.”

Arsenal will now dust themselves down as they prepare for their north London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

Unai Emery has been tasked with steering the Gunners back into the top four this season after they finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last term.
