Arsenal have made an offer to sign Juventus defender Daniele Rugani on a two-year loan, according to a report in Italy.

Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that Arsenal have earmarked the Italian centre-half to resolve their defensive crisis.

The same article states that the Gunners are hoping to capitalise on Rugani’s diminishing status at the Serie A champions following the arrival of Matthijs De Light from Ajax this summer.

According to the same story, Rugani is fourth choice at Juve as former Chelsea FC manager Maurizio Sarri oversees a massive overhaul at the Turin club.

The report goes on to add that Arsenal director of football Raul Sanllehi could “mastermind” a deal to bring Rugani on loan to The Emirates for two seasons.

Arsenal are still without Rob Holding and Hector Bellerin as the Gunners duo continue to recover from serious injuries that ended their 2018-19 campaigns prematurely.

The Gunners are in a battle to keep France defender Laurent Koscielny after the 33-year-old expressed a desire to return to Ligue 1 earlier this summer.

Arsenal have also released Stephan Lichtsteiner, while German defender Shkodran Mustafi is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

The north London side have signed Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos and William Saliba so far this summer.
