Arsenal are in talks with FC Barcelona to sign Philippe Coutinho on loan, according to a report in Spain.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Gunners are holding discussions with the La Liga champions about a potential swoop to sign the Brazilian midfielder this summer.
The same article states that Arsenal and FC Barcelona were set to hold further talks after their pre-season friendly in the Joan Gamper Trophy at Camp Nou.
According to the same story, FC Barcelona are prepared to loan out Coutinho despite spending £142m on the Brazilian playmaker in January 2018.
The report goes on to suggest that Arsenal might have to pay £27m to loan the former Liverpool FC playmaker for the Premier League season.
Arsenal have been busy over the past couple of weeks in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners started their summer spending with the addition of Brazilian teenager Gabriel Martinelli.
Arsenal then signed Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba in a £36m deal, although the teenager was immediately loaned back to the French side.
The north London side have also signed Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan.
And Arsenal – who travel to Newcastle for their Premier League opener on Sunday – broke their transfer record last week to sign Nicolas Pepe in a £72m deal from Ligue 1 side Lille.
