Charlie Nicholas is tipping Manchester City to return to winning ways in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens dropped their first points of the season last weekend when they were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur at The Etihad.

The defending champions will no doubt be keen to get their campaign back on track when they travel to the South Coast on Sunday afternoon looking for three points.

Manchester City could potentially find themselves five points behind Liverpool FC or Arsenal when they kick off at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, with the Reds and the Gunners playing each other on Saturday evening.

However, former Arsenal star Nicholas is not expecting the Citizens to have any problems when they take on the Cherries this weekend away from home.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “Last season Bournemouth didn’t have a shot when they played Manchester City at home and lost 1-0.

“They got a bit of praise for the way they played, but I don’t like to praise a team for playing like that, particularly at home.

“Eddie Howe is not that type of manager. I can understand why you would want to sit in and not open up but they are at home and I don’t expect them to go down this season, so why not see what happens? I am not saying get involved in an end-to-end game but they must try and lay a glove on City.

“City can let goals in if you have a go at them, we have seen that from set-pieces.

“However, City were brilliant for long periods against Tottenham and Kevin De Bruyne was amazing. They have goals, pace, cleverness, and I can only a see comfortable win here.”

Manchester City claimed a second successive Premier League trophy last season after they managed to hold off Liverpool FC and win the title by a point.

The Citizens – who also won the League Cup last term – are now aiming to retain the title for the third season running under Pep Guardiola.
