Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Burnley v Liverpool FC
BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool FC to drop points at Burnley on Saturday evening
Mark Lawrenson believes that Liverpool FC will drop points in a 1-1 stalemate with Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.
The Merseyside outfit are sitting at the top of the Premier League table following three successive victories.
Liverpool FC have beaten Arsenal, Southampton and Norwich City to move two points clear of their title rivals Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were emphatic 3-1 winners against the Gunners last weekend after goals from Joel Matip and Mohamed Salah.
The Reds will taken on a Burnley side that have collected four points from their opening three Premier League fixtures.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson can envisage the Reds dropping points away at Burnley on Saturday evening.
“Burnley are a strange one,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“This is the kind of fixture two years ago you would look at and think would be tricky for Liverpool but you look at them now and it is very different.
“Arsenal were naive last week against Liverpool in the way they let the full-backs get forward. Sean Dyche won’t make that mistake. Burnley have made a good start and don’t have the Europa League this season.
“After losing to Sunderland in the League Cup, Dyche will be looking for a reaction.”
Liverpool FC were 3-1 winners against Burnley at Turf Moor last season, although Klopp’s men left it late to secure the three points.
The Merseyside outfit finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after the Reds ended up a point adrift of champions Manchester City.
Liverpool FC won the Champions League title last season thanks to a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid back in June.
The Reds will take on Serie A side Napoli, Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Salzburg and Belgian outfit Genk in the Champions League group stage.
