The France international started his first competitive fixture under the new Chelsea FC boss in the Uefa Super Cup showpiece on Wednesday night.
The Blues lost to Liverpool FC on penalties in Istanbul but the west London side acquitted themselves well against the Champions League holders.
Kante helped to reinforce the Chelsea FC midfield despite being used in an advanced position after the Blues lost 4-0 to Manchester United at Old Trafford last weekend.
The World Cup winner built his reputation as the world’s best holding midfielder during his title-winning seasons at Leicester City and then Chelsea FC.
However, Lampard’s predecessor Maurizio Sarri decided to use Kante in an advanced role to accommodate Jorginho in the Chelsea FC team in the 2018-19 season.
The tactic was largely criticised in the British media but Lampard appears to be sticking with Kante in a more attacking role rather than playing the Frenchman as a holding midfielder.
But Kante insists he is happy to play in this role.
“I like to play in this position, this is where I played last year,” Kante told Goal, as quoted by Metro.
“The coach asked me to play in this positon, I like to do it.
“I know what to do with my teammates and we played a good game tonight.”
Chelsea FC will host Leicester City in their second Premier League fixture of the season at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues finished in third place in the Premier League table last term.
