Frank Lampard is considering using Ruben Loftus-Cheek in an unfamiliar striker role in the Chelsea FC team, according to a report in England.

The Sun is reporting that Lampard is seriously considering using the England international as a striker when Loftus-Cheek returns from injury.

The same article states that former Chelsea FC boss Antonio Conte had also toyed with the possibility of using Loftus-Cheek up front.

According to the same story, Lampard has been forced to consider his striking options following the slow start to the season for Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham.

Loftus-Cheek suffered a serious injury in Chelsea FC’s friendly against New England Revolution ahead of the Europa League back in May.

The Chelsea FC playmaker is expected to make a return to full fitness towards the end of 2019 after his lengthy layoff.

The Blues lost 4-0 to Manchester United in their Premier League opener to make an underwhelming start to life under Lampard.

Chelsea FC extended their winless run with a 1-1 draw with Leicester City at Stamford Bridge to make a slow start to the new season.

The west London outfit suffered a defeat in the Uefa Super Cup after Chelsea FC lost to Liverpool FC on penalties in Istanbul.

Chelsea FC, who finished in third spot last term, will take on Sheffield United in their next Premier League game at Stamford Bridge next Saturday afternoon.
