The 20-year-old linked up with the Chelsea FC squad this summer after his move from Borussia Dortmund was secured back in January.
Pulisic scored twice in Chelsea FC’s pre-season win over RB Salzburg on Wednesday to open his account for the Blues and demonstrate his prowess in front of goal.
The USA international will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge this season as he bids to help Frank Lampard’s men challenge for the Premier League title.
And the attacker has now admitted his relief at having opened his account for Chelsea FC as the new season looms large.
Speaking in an interview quoted by The Sun, Pulisic said: “Being a new signing and coming into the club, I felt I needed to prove myself and wanted to show the guys early on that I can play.
“Hopefully I have done that a bit and earned their respect.”
He added: “It was a big relief to score my first goals for Chelsea. It was a great win to do it in that manner and it felt great adapting to the new team.”
Chelsea FC will kick off their Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United on Sunday 11 August.
The Blues are aiming to build on their third-placed finish under Maurizio Sarri from last term, with Lampard having been brought in as the club’s new boss last month following the Italian’s departure to Juventus.
