Sky Sports pundit: Christian Pulisic can’t replace Eden Hazard at Chelsea FC
Danny Higginbotham says Christian Pulisic cannot be expected to replace Eden Hazard at Chelsea FC
Danny Higginbotham says that Christian Pulisic will not be able to step into Eden Hazard’s boots at Chelsea FC this season.
The Blues are getting used to life without Hazard after the Belgian completed a big-money move to Real Madrid at the start of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea FC agreed a deal to sign Pulisic, 20, from Borussia Dortmund in the January transfer window but he only linked up with Frank Lampard’s squad this summer.
Pulisic put in an impressive display in Chelsea FC’s defeat by Liverpool FC in the Uefa Super Cup on Wednesday night and Blues fans will be encouraged by what they saw from the USA international in midweek.
Higginbotham is tipping Pulisic to be a big hit at Chelsea FC but says that he will never be able to fully replace Hazard.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Higginbotham said: “People will ask the question, how do you replace Hazard? You can’t.
“What you can do is look for a player that can give great qualities. Pulisic, I must admit against United when he came on he didn’t do too much, but he was a real stand-out player against Liverpool.
“Frank Lampard will be delighted with that, he’s only a young player still getting to grips with the English side of the game, but it was great promise yesterday.
“You can’t fill Eden Hazard’s boots but what you can do is bring a player in who can bring different qualities.”
Pulisic will be hoping to start for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a home clash against Leicester City.
The west London club lost their opening Premier League game of the season last weekend when they suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
