Gary Cahill comments on Frank Lampard taking over at Chelsea FC
Gary Cahill has his say on Frank Lampard's move to take over at Chelsea FC this summer
Gary Cahill has admitted that he would have loved to have worked under Frank Lampard at Chelsea FC this season.
Cahill was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer this summer and he moved to Crystal Palace after having struggled for game-time under Maurizio Sarri last season.
By the time Lampard was brought in as Chelsea FC’s new manager in July, the decision for Cahill to leave had already been made.
And the central defender has admitted that he would have loved to have worked under Lampard this season if he had been given the chance to.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Evening Standard, Cahill said: “It’s a shame he [Lampard] wasn’t in last year when I was there.
“No, I’m only joking. It would have been very interesting to work under him, especially when you’ve played with him and know what he’s like, it would have been an experience I would have relished.
“Leaving Chelsea was sad, but naturally everything has to come to an end.”
It has been something of a tricky start to the season for the Blues this term, with Lampard still searching for his first Premier League victory as manager.
The Blues were thrashed 4-0 by Manchester United in their opener at Old Trafford, before being pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw by Leicester City at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.
The west London side will look to claim their first win under Lampard in the Premier League when they travel to Norwich City in the top flight on Saturday lunchtime.
