Matt Le Tissier is backing Chelsea FC to finish in fourth place in the Premier League table this season.

The Blues are gearing up for their first campaign under new boss Frank Lampard after the 41-year-old was brought in to replace Maurizio Sarri, who headed to Juventus earlier in the summer.

Chelsea FC have been unable to sign any new players in the summer due to the transfer ban handed down to them by Fifa.

Despite this, the west London side were still able to bring in Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic as those deals were organised before the ban came into effect.

Chelsea FC will be aiming to maintain their place in the top four this term under Lampard after they finished in third place in the table last season.

And former Southampton star Le Tissier feels confident that Chelsea FC will be able to finish in fourth place in the Premier League table this term.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Le Tissier said: “There’s not much between the three teams for the final top four place but I’ll go with Chelsea.

“I would like Frank Lampard to do well, I think he will be a good manager, and I hope he gets them into the Champions League as it would be a good kickstart to his career.”

Chelsea FC will kick off their new Premier League campaign with a testing clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

They will then take on Liverpool FC in the Uefa Super Cup in Istanbul on Wednesday night.
