The Blues suffered a disappointing 4-0 loss to Manchester United in their opening game of the campaign last weekend as Frank Lampard’s start as Blues boss began on a disappointing note.
Chelsea FC produced a solid performance in their Uefa Super Cup clash with Liverpool FC on Wednesday night and eventually ended up going down on penalties after a 2-2 draw following extra-time.
Arsenal were one of the busiest top six clubs in the summer transfer market as they brought in William Saliba, Gabriel Martinelli, David Luiz, Kieran Tierney, Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos on loan from Real Madrid.
The Manchester City manager has insisted that he has been hugely impressed by both London teams – and he rates them among the contenders for the title this season.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Guardiola said: “I am really impressed with Chelsea and how they have played against Manchester United and Liverpool.
“I was really surprised how well Frank Lampard’s team played.
“And we saw the quality United have upfront and the new mood around the club. Arsenal have bought good players too, so they are all contenders [for the title].”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their unbeaten triumph in 2003-04 and they will return to top-flight action next Saturday with a testing trip to Liverpool FC.
Chelsea FC, meanwhile, last won the title in 2017 and are currently preparing for their home clash against Leicester City on Sunday.
