Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to make it back to back wins in the Premier League for the first this season with a 3-1 victory over Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Blues head into the game looking to secure three points for the second week running after their 3-2 win at Norwich City last time out.

Frank Lampard side have taken four points from their opening three games of the season after having suffered a 4-0 loss to Manchester United before playing out a 1-1 draw with Leicester City.

Chelsea FC will now turn their attentions towards welcoming newly-promoted Sheffield United to Stamford Bridge this weekend.

And former Arsenal star Nicholas is fully expecting to see the Blues claim all three points in front of their home fans with a 3-1 victory.

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “Frank Lampard badly needed the win at Norwich, and Chelsea played well going forward – they know they have frailties at the back. Pedro looks to be relishing working with Lampard.

“Tammy Abraham had a lot of pressure on him but he is up and running so has done well. Lampard wants Mason Mount to play up with the strikers and he has identified this, he is so gifted and talented.

“It has been a good start for Sheffield United, so they may be ready to say it is about being dogged, not just having energy.

“There is a feeling within Chelsea at the moment that the fans will demand a win and Lampard will demand a performance, which they will get, but not without its difficulties.”

Chelsea FC have not won the Premier League title since their triumph under Antonio Conte in 2017.

The Blues opted to bring Lampard in as their new boss after Maurizio Sarri chose to return to Serie A with Juventus after just one year at the helm at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea FC finished in third place and won the Europa League under Sarri last term.
