Jurgen Klopp gives latest Liverpool FC injury update on Alisson Becker
Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp provides an update on Alisson Becker
Jurgen Klopp says Alisson Becker “looks in good shape”, but the Liverpool FC manager has not yet given a comeback date for the Brazilian goalkeeper.
The 26-year-old suffered a calf injury in Liverpool FC’s 4-1 victory over promoted side Norwich City in their Premier League opener earlier this month.
The Brazil international was expected to be sidelined for between four and six weeks in what was a blow to Liverpool FC after Alisson’s peerless performances last term.
New Liverpool FC signing Adrian was drafted into the Reds team in Alisson’s absence and the Spanish goalkeeper has featured in all of their games since the league opener.
Adrian conceded a penalty in the Uefa Super Cup before he turned out to be Liverpool FC’s hero with the block to deny Tammy Abraham in the penalty shootout.
However, the summer signing made a mistake to cost Liverpool FC a goal in their 2-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League last weekend.
Speaking at a media conference on Friday about Alisson’s potential return from injury, Klopp refused to give a comeback date for the Brazilian shot-stopper.
“Looks good, he’s in good shape, good mood, but it will take time. I don’t know exactly,” Klopp said.
“No date really in my mind, or nobody told me a date, I didn’t ask. We want to give him the time he needs.
“In the beginning he was on crutches, which was normal with the injury he had, they are not there now. He walks normal, he can really train now completely different to a week ago.
“I think from now on it will go quick but how quick I don’t [know].”
Liverpool FC signed Alisson in a £67m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma last summer.
Alisson kept more clean sheets that any other Premier League goalkeeper last term.
