Jurgen Klopp makes Liverpool FC claim about Alisson
Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp gives his verdict on Alisson Becker
Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool FC number one Alisson Becker as the best goalkeeper in the world.
The Brazil international won the Champions League goalkeeper of the season award after Liverpool FC’s European Cup triumph last season.
Alisson featured in each of Liverpool FC’s Champions League games, including their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
The former AS Roma goalkeeper was a key part of Liverpool FC’s success in the 2018-19 season as Alisson was a calming influence on the defence.
Speaking to Liverpool FC’s website about Alisson being crowned the Champions League goalkeeper of the season, Klopp said:
“I would say well, well, well deserved. He had exceptional saves.
“In the final he made it look like all these finishes of Tottenham were so easy to save them – but they were not. He kept his nerves, calmed the game down in the right moment, made it quick in the right moment, saved our lives so often.
“So it’s so deserved. In the first season with us and immediately winning the Champions League. What a year he had, he won the Champions League, won the Copa America and now is the best goalie of last year 100 per cent. For me, he is the best goalie in the world in the moment. We just have to make sure it stays like this.
“He is now injured; when he is back, we are all waiting for that already, even when Adrian is doing an incredible job. Sending two players there and both winning the competition they are in, it’s big. It’s a really big day for Liverpool.”
Liverpool FC signed Alisson in a £67m deal from Serie A side AS Roma in the 2018 summer transfer window.
The Brazilian goalkeeper kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League last season.
Alisson helped Liverpool FC to finish with the best defensive record in the Premier League in the 2018-19 campaign.
The Brazilian shot-stopper suffered an injury in their 4-1 victory over Norwich City in their season opener at Anfield earlier this month.
Summer signing Adrian has been drafted into the Liverpool FC team as Alisson’s replacement.
The former West Ham goalkeeper has conceded three times in three Premier League games since making his Reds debut against the Canaries.
