Gary Neville believes Manchester United will win the Premier League title before Liverpool FC.

Jurgen Klopp’s side finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after Liverpool FC pushed Manchester City all the way in the title race.

The Reds finished as runners up with a record 97 points, which would have been sufficient to win the Premier League in 25 of the past 27 seasons.

Liverpool FC only lost to Manchester City in the Premier League last term following a 2-1 loss to the Citizens at The Etihad in January.

Klopp’s side finished 31 points ahead of Manchester United, who ended up in sixth place for the second time in three seasons.

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013, while Liverpool FC have finished in second place on two occasions in the past six seasons.

Former Manchester United defender Neville isn’t worried about the club’s lack of title success, adding that the Red Devils will win the Premier League again before Liverpool FC.

“I don’t sit here every day as a United fan and think my world’s ending. I just see it as a cycle. I grew up for the first 18 years of my life and I didn’t see a league title at Manchester United. And the next 20 or 25 years was glorious. It was like heaven,” said Neville on Sky Bet’s The Big Debate, as quoted by the Metro.

“But now it’s tough. I don’t sit here every day thinking, ‘Oh my god if they don’t win the league this year, if they don’t do this this year, if they don’t get that player’. Where’s the panic?’

Neville added: “What I’m saying is, Liverpool, City, Tottenham, all these clubs have had poor recruitment policies over the last 25 or 30 years at times. So United are going through one at the moment.

“Eventually they will stumble upon the right recruitment system, the right recruitment people, they’ll get a great manager – hopefully that’s Ole – and they’ll start to win again. That’s going to happen.

“I can guarantee you as clear as day, Manchester United will win again. They’ll probably win the league before Liverpool, in my opinion. And that’s not being disrespectful, they’ll probably win the league before Liverpool.”

Liverpool FC have won more major trophies than any other British team after Klopp’s men beat Chelsea FC on penalties in the Uefa Super Cup.

The Reds will take on Southampton in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday night.
