Jurgen Klopp rates Arsenal and Chelsea FC’s title hopes
Jurgen Klopp has his say on Arsenal and Chelsea FC's title chances in the Premier League this season
Jurgen Klopp is convinced that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea FC will be contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Klopp’s Liverpool FC team are poised to get the new Premier League season under way when they host Norwich City at Anfield on Friday night.
The stage is set for an intriguing title race as Liverpool FC look to go one step further than they did last season after they finished just a point behind Manchester City.
However, the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham have all made a number of big-name signings this summer to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign.
Chelsea FC, meanwhile, have had their hands tied in the summer market due to their transfer ban, but they have still added Christian Pulisic and Mateo Kovacic to their squad.
And Liverpool FC boss Klopp seems to think that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea FC will be main contenders for the title this season.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Klopp said: “I’d say there are at least six teams in contention.
“Everton, for example, have tried to stay very ambitious. They have done a lot and I think there are still maybe a couple of players to come in. They had a good team last year and they have improved, with very interesting signings.
“I don’t know where people get the idea that Arsenal will not challenge, that Chelsea will not challenge with Frank [Lampard] bringing complete excitement to the club.
“OK, they cannot really be busy in the transfer window, but after years when all the young boys were on loan, now they finally bring them back and get the benefit of that.
“It’s like it’s made for a transfer ban. Now [Tammy] Abraham and all these other guys come back and it’s a fantastic team.”
Chelsea FC finished in third place in the Premier League last season and won the Europa League under Maurizio Sarri.
Arsenal, meanwhile, ended up fifth and without a trophy after losing the Europa League final to Chelsea FC.
