Jurgen Klopp makes Liverpool FC prediction about Champions League run
Jurgen Klopp discusses Liverpool FC's Champions League hopes this season
Jurgen Klopp has played down his Liverpool FC side’s chances of retaining their Champions League title this season.
The Reds lifted the European trophy back in June after having beaten Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final in Madrid to seal their first major piece of silverware under Klopp.
Liverpool FC will be aiming to challenge for the Premier League title this season and also enjoy a strong run in the Champions League.
However, Klopp has played down his side’s chances of reaching the Champions League final again this season, despite having made it to the showpiece for the last two years running.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Guardian, Klopp said: “I will have no problem with it [reaching the final] if it happens again, but at this moment I am not too sure it will.
“We have the same chance like everyone else, but that is all, and I don’t see us, the English teams, dominating.
“I really think a lot of teams have a good chance.”
The Liverpool FC manager also underlined his belief that the competition in the Champions League is stronger than ever.
He continued: “Look at the squad Borussia Dortmund has and tell me we are stronger than them. That is incredible.
“They can make five changes and you think: ‘Really, they didn’t play last week? Why?’ There are a lot of quality teams: Juventus will be there, PSG will be there. Real Madrid? Do you think they gave up already?
“Bayern Munich now finally brought in [Ivan] Perisic and [Philippe] Coutinho which is a big boost.”
Liverpool FC are currently leading the way at the top of the Premier League table after having won their opening three games.
They will return to top-flight action on Saturday when they take on Burnley away from home.
Liverpool FC were impressive 3-1 winners over Arsenal in their most recent Premier League outing at Anfield last weekend.
