Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool FC to edge to a 2-1 win against Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Merseyside outfit are sitting at the top of the Premier League table following a 100 per cent start to the new season.

Liverpool FC were 4-1 winners against Norwich City before the 18-time English champions edged to a 2-1 victory over Southampton last weekend.

Arsenal are the only other team left in the Premier League that haven’t dropped any point so far after victories over Newcastle United and Burnley.

Liverpool FC have a great record against Arsenal at Anfield in the Premier League over the past four or five seasons.

Klopp’s side have scored 12 times in their last three games against the Gunners in front of their home supporters on Merseyside.

Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is tipping the Merseyside outfit to record a third successive Premier League win at Anfield on Saturday evening.

“Arsenal boss Unai Emery has made some good signings but I don’t think Arsenal have any leaders in the team and they struggle defensively,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.

“If they have a lot of the ball they can cause you problems though. Their movement is excellent. They have good midfield players and quality up front.

“But if Liverpool even have 30 minutes at their best, you just know they are going to create chances and score. The European champions haven’t quite been on it defensively but they should have enough to beat Arsenal.

“Full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold looks a little bit off so Jurgen Klopp opted to go with Joe Gomez against Chelsea and it’s a good thing there’s that competition for places. Joel Matip has been in the team too. He was as good as anybody at the end of last season.

“Klopp has a really good record against Arsenal – he hasn’t lost a game while Liverpool manager and I don’t think that will change this weekend.”

Liverpool FC signed Dutch teenager Sepp van den Berg, Fulham youngster Harvey Elliott and West Ham goalkeeper Adrian in the summer.

The Reds finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after Liverpool FC ended up a point adrift of defending champions Manchester City.

Liverpool FC won the Champions League title after a 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid last term.
