The Chile international’s future remains a source of debate following his disappointing stint at the 20-time English champions so far.
Sanchez has underwhelmed at Manchester United despite being one of the best players in the Premier League upon his arrival at Old Trafford.
The former Arsenal striker has only scored three goals in the Premier League since his move to Manchester United nearly two years ago.
The 30-year-old has barely featured under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since Neville’s former team-mate took over the reins back in December.
Sanchez has been linked with a potential move to Serie A giants Inter Milan ahead of the close of the European transfer window.
And former Manchester United defender Neville didn’t hold back in his assessment of the South American forward.
“We talk about Alexis Sanchez going to Italy. I welcomed him to United,” Neville told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports.
“I thought he would be a forward who’d play across the line. He is tenacious but it’s a disaster. He has been an absolute disaster.
“I have no idea what has happened to Alexis Sanchez to the one that we saw playing in Barcelona and at Arsenal for several years.
“The one that has turned up in Manchester, I have no idea what it is. I have so much respect for him but they need to get him out of the club.”
Manchester United signed Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal in the 2018 January transfer window as Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved in the opposite direction.
The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Monday night after Anthony Martial’s opener was cancelled out by Ruben Neves.
Manchester United will return to Premier League action with a home clash against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
