Gary Neville names the Man United player he ‘loved’ against Chelsea FC
Gary Neville raves about Harry Maguire after Man United's 4-0 win over Chelsea FC on Sunday
Gary Neville has taken to social media to admit that he “loved” Harry Maguire’s performance for Manchester United in Sunday’s 4-0 win over Chelsea FC.
Maguire has been settling into life at Old Trafford after having completed his big-money move to the club from Leicester City earlier this month.
The 26-year-old started in central defence alongside Victor Lindelof for Sunday’s game and the pair helped to keep Chelsea FC at bay as Maguire was named as the man of the match.
Manchester United ran away with the victory thanks to two goals from Marcus Rashford and one each from Anthony Martial and debutant Daniel James.
Former Manchester United star Neville was clearly thrilled by what he saw from Maguire in his first appearance in a Red Devils shirt.
Posting on Twitter, Neville said: “I loved Maguire yesterday.
“Top CB’s don’t sweat, look calm, don’t spend time on their backsides, win headers, are composed on the ball, cover others and lead by example.
“It’s only early but he demonstrated all those qualities. No sign of the price tag or OT phasing him either!”
Manchester United signed Maguire along with Aaron Wan-Bissaka and James this summer.
The Red Devils will now have their sights firmly set on trying to break back into the top four this season after they finished sixth and without a trophy last term.
They will return to Premier League action when they travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night in the top flight.
