The England international made his full debut for the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon after having completed his big-money transfer to Old Trafford from Leicester City earlier in the month.
Maguire produced a brilliant solid display alongside Victor Lindelof in the Manchester United defence as the Red Devils sealed a thumping win over Frank Lampard’s men in front of their home fans.
The 26-year-old will be hoping to add some stability at the back for the Red Devils as they look to try and break back into the top four this season.
And Red Devils boss Solskjaer was clearly delighted by what he saw from the defender in his first Premier League appearance for Manchester United.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Solskjaer said: “They slotted in really well. Harry has had three or four sessions with the team but he’s such an experienced professional.
“He’s done exactly what we’ve signed him for, his presence in both boxes, his calmness and composure on the ball. We’ve had a couple of talks with him about how we want to play and that will only improve.
“He’s a leader and with him, David de Gea and Victor Lindelof they marshalled that back line really well. It is important to have strong personalities at the back.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action on Monday night when they take on Wolves away from home.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the table last season and without a trophy after Solskjaer was brought in to replace Jose Mourinho in December.
