Pundit reacts to Pogba’s display in Man United’s 1-1 draw at Southampton
Stan Collymore has his say on Paul Pogba's display during Man United's 1-1 draw with Southampton
Stan Collymore took to social media to deliver his verdict on Paul Pogba’s performance during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils took the lead in the 10th minute at St Mary’s when summer signing Daniel James fired home a brilliant opener for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men.
Manchester United went in ahead at the break but they were pegged back in the 58th minute when Jannik Vestergaard headed home from close range.
The hosts were then reduced to 10 men when Kevin Danso was shown a second yellow card in the 73rd minute – but Southampton held on to claim a point.
Pogba’s situation at Manchester United was a relentless source of speculation throughout the summer transfer window, but it seems that he will be staying at the club for the time being.
He played the full 90 minutes at St Mary’s and former Liverpool FC star Collymore took to Twitter to deliver his verdict on his display.
Collymore wrote: “Pogba playing at his own pace either delivers head and shoulders above anyone else or caught repeatedly in possession.
“That’s where the criticism comes in. Looks clumsy and reactive when the latter happens.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday 14 September.
The Red Devils have only taken five points from their opening four games this season and will be desperate to return to winning ways next time out.
