Michael Owen is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to beat Newcastle United in their Premier League meeting at Wembley on Sunday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be looking to return to winning ways following their credible 2-2 draw with defending Premier League champions Manchester City last weekend.

The Citizens were unable to record back-to-back Premier League victories after both Erik Lamela and then Lucas Moura cancelled out goals from Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero.

Spurs have a great chance to secure their second Premier League victory of the season when they line up against a Newcastle team that has lost both of their league games under Steve Bruce so far.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is tipping Tottenham to beat Newcastle without conceding a goal at Wembley in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

“Spurs rode their luck at the Etihad at the weekend but played their part in a wonderful game of football and I expect them to have too much quality for a Newcastle side who have disappointed me so far this season,” Owen told BetVictor.

“The Magpies need more from their expensive signings Joelinton – who spurned a gilt-edged opportunity at Carrow Road – and Miquel Almiron but they may need more time to gel.

“In the meantime, I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win.”

Tottenham finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to continue their record of securing a spot in the Champions League in the last four seasons under Pochettino.

Spurs signed Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani lo Celso, Jack Clarke and Ryan Sessegnon in the summer transfer window to bolster their squad ahead of the new season.

Tottenham lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final last season following goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi.
