BT Sport pundit raves about 18-year-old Arsenal starlet
Martin Keown raves about Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka after the Gunners' 3-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt
Martin Keown singled out Bukayo Saka for his fine display in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The north London side claimed a solid win to kick off their Europa League campaign in style thanks to goals from Joe Willock, Saka and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Saka, 18, was named as the man of the match following his fine display as he played the full 90 minutes of the Europa League clash in Germany.
The teenager played alongside summer signing Nicolas Pepe for the final 30 minutes of the game, and former Arsenal defender Keown feels that Saka produced a better display than the north London club’s record signing.
Speaking in an interview with BT Sport after the game, Keown said: “They toil away, trying to get young players in and they’ve found one in Saka.
“You think of the way Pepe is playing at the minute, they paid £72m for him and this kid looked better than him tonight.
“By the way, [Joe] Willock as well, he’s got his reward, this has been a breakthrough moment for him. He got a little bit lucky, but that’s all 100 per cent the academy, that first goal for Arsenal.
“When Saka gets the ball [for the second goal], it shows composure, he’s passing it into the goal, it’s a beautiful finish. To think he’s 18 years of age…”
Arsenal will now switch their attentions to their Premier League clash against Aston Villa at home on Sunday afternoon as they look to return to winning ways in the top flight.
The north London side are aiming to return to winning ways after having lost one and drawn two of their last three games in the top flight.
Most recently, Unai Emery’s men squandered a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Watford away from home last weekend.
