Unai Emery has insisted that Nicolas Pepe is ready for action as Arsenal prepare for their trip to Watford on Sunday.

The winger pulled out of international duty with the Ivory Coast to work on his fitness levels at Arsenal’s training ground and it had been reported that he sustained an injury.

However, that is not the case and the 24-year-old is ready for selection as Arsenal prepare for their trip to Vicarage Road this weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match news conference about Pepe, Emery said: “Yes, yes, he is training well and he is ready for Sunday.”

Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette, however, is out of action with a left ankle injury and he is not likely to be ready for selection again until October.

Meanwhile, Emery also delivered an update on the returns of Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin, who are both still working on their fitness levels at London Colney.

He said: “They are now closer to us but they need to continue working and taking training with us for their fitness.

“They can feel very comfortable coming back to play with us, Kieran Tierney starting and Hector Bellerin coming back after his injury.”

Arsenal head into the game looking to return to winning ways after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur before the international break.

The north London side are without a win in two after having lost 3-1 to Liverpool FC before that.
