The Ivory Coast international has been settling into life at The Emirates after completing his big-money move to Arsenal from Lille in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has shown flashes of brilliance in his last two starts for the Gunners, with the forward having played for the full 90 minutes against both Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Pepe is yet to score his first goal for the club, despite notching up his first Premier League assist in the 2-2 draw with Spurs at the weekend.
Former Arsenal defender Campbell says that Pepe still needs to calibrate his form in front of goal, but he is confident that Pepe will develop into a top player for the Gunners.
Speaking to Sky Sports after Sunday’s entertaining draw, Campbell said: “Pepe didn’t have his shooting boots on but you can see the quality.
“He needs to be a bit cuter and show some nous with his final ball in and around the box.
“Once he gets that, once he gets his shooting range and that one goal, he’ll get off the blocks and crack on and be a fantastic player for Arsenal.”
The result left Arsenal in fifth place in the Premier League table after five games of the new campaign, and five points behind leaders Liverpool FC heading into the international break.
The Gunners will return to Premier League action after the international break when they travel to Watford on Sunday 15 September.
