Gary Neville reacts to Aubameyang’s goal in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville gives his verdict on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's goal in Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday
Gary Neville described Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s finish as “perfect” for his goal in Sunday’s 2-2 draw in the north London derby at The Emirates.
Unai Emery’s side lost their 100 per cent record in the Premier League last weekend following a 3-1 loss to leaders Liverpool FC at Anfield.
Arsenal started the derby two points ahead of Tottenham but the visitors eased into a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to gaols from Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane.
Alexandre Lacazette levelled in the first minute of added time at the end of the first half to offer Arsenal hope of a comeback in the second half.
Aubameyang equalised with 20 minutes to go when Matteo Guendouzi’s cross found the Gabon international in the Tottenham penalty area.
The Arsenal striker managed to get a toe on the ball to guide his finish past Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
Former Manchester United defender Neville gave his verdict on Aubameyang’s goal.
“You think it’s too narrow to cross,” Neville told Sky Sports.
“It comes to Guendouzi. Tottenham players probably think it’ll be a switch of play. It’s perfect. Aubameyang is so quick to make those little runs off the shoulders. The toe is perfect. He leaves Lloris with no chance.”
Aubameyang finished as the Premier League’s joint top goal-scorer last season alongside Liverpool FC duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Arsenal signed Aubameyang in a £57m deal from Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund in 2018 January transfer window under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners will take on Watford in their next Premier League game on Sunday 15 September.
