Dani Ceballos asked Real Madrid not to sell him before the playmaker completed a move to Arsenal on a season-long loan, according to a report in Spain.

Spanish media outlet Marca, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Arsenal were eager to put a clause in a deal that would allow for the possibility of a permanent transfer at the end of the season.

The same article states that the north London side attempted to convince Real Madrid to include a potential clause but the La Liga giants didn’t want to give the Gunners the option to buy Ceballos.

According to the same story, the 22-year-old made a desperate plea to Real Madrid not to sell the Spain Under-21 international.

Ceballos has made a decent start to his Arsenal career after the Spanish playmaker earned the man of the match award in a 2-1 victory over Burnley at The Emirates last month.

The Arsenal loan signing struggled to have an impact on their 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield.

Unai Emery’s men have collected seven points from their opening four Premier League games.

Arsenal finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table to miss out on a place in the Champions League.
