The England Under-21 international was replaced in the 16th minute of Chelsea FC’s 1-0 loss to Valencia after Mount suffered an apparent ankle problem following a robust challenge from former Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.
Mount’s injury is a blow to his manager Lampard given the 20-year-old’s impressive form for Chelsea FC despite his lack of top-flight experience following loan spells in the lower leagues.
The Chelsea FC youth graduate scored the Blues’ final goal in the 5-2 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Mount has already netted a respectable three Premier League goals in five top-flight appearances to prove to be an instrumental player under Lampard so far.
The Chelsea FC manager confirmed that Mount had suffered an ankle injury in the Champions League clash at Stamford Bridge but Lampard was unsure how serious the setback is.
“He’s got an ankle injury but we don’t know how bad it is,” Lampard told his post-match media conference in west London.
“We’ll have to assess it in the next 48 hours to see the scale of the injury.
“It was a shame because he started the game well and it meant we had to make the change early on.”
Chelsea FC will welcome Premier League leaders Liverpool FC to Stamford Bridge in their next top-flight fixture on Sunday.
The Blues haven’t won the Premier League title since Antonio Conte led Chelsea FC to 30 victories in a season in 2016-17.
