Jose Mourinho insists Frank Lampard has “all the conditions” to succeed at Chelsea FC.

The Blues have made a mixed start to life under their record goalscorer since Lampard replaced Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Lampard was unable to sign any players to improve his squad as the Europa League winners served a transfer ban handed out by Fifa.

Chelsea FC sold Eden Hazard to Real Madrid before David Luiz completed a surprise move to Arsenal on transfer deadline day.

Lampard has opted to place his faith in some of Chelsea FC’s youngest players since taking over the reins of the west London side.

Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have both impressed in the Chelsea FC first-team despite their lack of experience at top-flight level.

Former Chelsea FC manager Mourinho, who was in charge when Lampard won his first two Premier League titles, is confident the Blues boss can thrive at Stamford Bridge.

“One thing is the player, another thing is the manager,” Mourinho told Sky Sports. “The player, I don’t think any Chelsea fan will disagree with me if I say is one of the top five most important players of Chelsea history, and probably some will say not top five, maybe top three.

“Another thing is his managerial career, one year of experience in Derby where he showed good qualities and now he has Chelsea in his hands.

“He plays for big things. He plays Champions League, he played a European Super Cup, he had already big matches in his hands, and he has to grow up with the level of experiences, which I believe he can because he has huge experience.”

“I cannot separate from the fact that football has been always in his life. He was born son of a player, he grew up [nephew] of a football manager, he became a player, he became a top player… I think he has all the conditions to succeed.”

Chelsea FC will take on Valencia at Stamford Bridge in their opening Champions League group-stage fixture on Tuesday night.

The Blues won the Europa League crown last season after Chelsea FC managed to beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Baku showpiece.

Chelsea FC finished in third place in the Premier League last term.
