Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC are interested in a deal to sign Wigan Athletic starlet Joe Gelhardt, according to a report in England.

Website Goal, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC are keeping tabs on the Championship prospect.

The same article states that both Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC sent scouts to watch Gelhardt’s youth games last term.

According to the same story, the Premier League giants can expect to face competition from Everton, Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The same story reports that Gelhardt is a boyhood Liverpool FC supporter, which could give the Reds a slight advantage.

Goal go on to add that there will be scouts at England Under-18’s clash against Australia this Friday to watch the Wigan starlet.

Liverpool FC have made an impressive start to the Premier League season after collecting 12 points from their opening four games.

The Reds have beaten Norwich City, Southampton, Arsenal and Burnley in the Premier League season so far.

Chelsea FC dropped more points in the Premier League last weekend following a 2-2 draw with promoted side Sheffield United.

The Blues have only collected five points in the Premier League so far to make a slow start under Frank Lampard.
