The young forward was forced off early on during Chelsea FC’s 1-0 loss to Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday night after a strong challenge from Francis Coquelin.
Chelsea FC are now waiting to assess the extent of the injury as they turn their attentions towards their Premier League showdown with Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Mount has been in good form for Chelsea FC so far this season, with the 20-year-old having scored three goals in five Premier League games so far this term.
And Christensen has admitted that losing Mount, 20, to a suspected ankle injury is a big blow for the west London side.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Christensen said: “Mason has been very important for us, he is great for us in our build-up and he is dangerous in front of goal so obviously he was a big loss, but then we have great players to come on so it should not hurt us too much.
“Hopefully he is not too bad as he is an important player.”
Chelsea FC are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and maintain their place in the top four this term.
The Blues – who ended up in third place last term – head into their clash with Liverpool FC looking to make it back to back wins in the Premier League for the first time this season.
