The 18-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge has been something of a source of speculation in recent months due to the fact that his current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich were credited with an interest in signing Hudson-Odoi in the January transfer window but a move failed to materialise and he ended up staying at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson-Odoi is currently recovering from an Achilles injury but is on course to make his return to the first team at Stamford Bridge in the coming weeks.
Football.London reporter Harbord has now revealed that Chelsea FC no longer have any fears about Hudson-Odoi’s long-term future at the west London club, and they expect him to commit to a new long-term deal.
Writing in his column for Football.London about Hudson-Odoi’s situation, Harbord said: “No fears over departure.
“There doesn’t seem now at all that there is a fear he will be leaving the club, like there was back in January.
“With the new project under Frank Lampard, Hudson-Odoi is going to get his chances in the first team and he is ready to commit his long term future.
“There is only just when the deal is going to be announced, which could coincide with his return to action.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Wolves away from home.
Frank Lampard’s side have only won one of their first four games this season and they were pegged back and held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United at the weekend.
