The former England international was brought in to take over at Stamford Bridge in July after Maurizio Sarri opted to leave the club and join Juventus.
Lampard’s side have made something of a mixed start to the new Premier League season, winning one, drawing two and losing one of their opening four top flight games.
The Blues were pegged back and held to a 2-2 draw by Sheffield United in their most recent outing to leave them with just five points from a possible 12.
Azpilicueta – who played alongside Lampard at Chelsea FC – says that he has been highly impressed by Lampard’s start to life as Blues boss.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea FC’s website, Azpilicueta said: “It is something I could see when we were sharing the dressing room, now I can see it as a manager.
“His passion, his desire to win. He is a winner.
“I reflect that in myself, the way I come here to Cobham. I know the club quite well, a lot of people who are around and I really feel involved in the day-to-day club life.
“I have passion when I go to the training ground. I always like to win every single possession game or whatever in training. I want to get that into the games where I am very proud to lead the team.”
Chelsea FC finished in third place in the Premier League and won the Europa League last season under Lampard.
The west London side are aiming to at least maintain their place in the top four this time around.
They will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they travel to Wolves in the top flight looking to get back to winning ways.
