Chelsea FC boss Frank Lampard confirms that Emerson will be out of action until mid-October with a thigh injury
Frank Lampard has confirmed that Emerson will be out of action until mid-October due to a thigh injury.
The left-back suffered a recurrence of his thigh problem early on during Chelsea FC’s defeat by Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge last weekend after having been on the sidelines with the problem previously.
Emerson was forced off after just 15 minutes of the Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge and Lampard has now confirmed that he is set for a short spell on the sidelines due to the problem.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Lampard said: “Emerson now won’t be back until the other side of the international break.
“It will be a few weeks because it is the recurrence of an injury so we have to be a bit careful with it.”
Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their home Premier League clash against Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
The west London side have made a slow start to the new campaign and have only won two of their opening six games to leave them off the pace in the race for a top-four finish.
Lampard has been tasked with keeping the Blues in the top four this season after they finished in third place and won the Europa League last term.
The west Londoners are yet to win a home Premier League game this season and they will be looking to put that right when they host Brighton this weekend.
