Sol Campbell raves about 21-year-old Chelsea FC star
Sol Campbell says Tammy Abraham has helped to take the pressure off Frank Lampard at Chelsea FC
Sol Campbell believes that Tammy Abraham has helped to take the pressure off Frank Lampard this season with his fine form for Chelsea FC.
The young striker has been a regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge this season, with Lampard seemingly ready to give youth a chance in his Blues squad.
Abraham has started almost all of Chelsea FC’s Premier League games this season and he had scored seven goals in the top flight ahead of the clash with Brighton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The 21-year-old helped Aston Villa to gain promotion to the Premier League last season as he enjoyed a successful loan spell away from Chelsea FC.
And the forward has picked up where he left off and has provided Chelsea FC with some key goals so far this season under new boss Lampard.
Former Arsenal defender Campbell has been highly impressed by what he has seen from Abraham so far this season and says that he has been the Blues’ key player.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Campbell said: “With his history and what’s happened, how he’s got to Chelsea, how he nearly moved to Wolves but that didn’t happen… he’s taken his chance and he’s done fabulously for Frank.
“It’s how he’s started, how he’s taken that mantle, taken the pressure and taken the pressure off Frank as well.
“You want these young players to take their chance and also given the opportunity, but then going for it. Some players get their chance and don’t take it, but he has.
“For me, banging on the drum about English players coming in…Tammy is the leading man [over the past month].”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they take on Lille away from home.
